Red Dog: What Is Red Dog?

Red Dog is a game of chance between you and the Dealer. It is played with a single standard deck of 52 cards.

You are dealt two cards. If these cards are not a Pair or Consecutives, you must predict whether the value of the third card will fall between the values of the two cards dealt. If you predict correctly you are paid out according to the Payout Schedule.

The objective is to correctly predict the outcome of the game based on the values of the first two cards dealt.

Payout Schedule

Winning hands in Red Dog pay out as follows:

Spread
Odds
1 card 5:1
2 cards 4:1
3 cards 2:1
4 to 11 cards Even Money
Consecutives Tie
Pairs Tie
Three of a Kind 11:1

Terms

Call
This is when you want to complete your hand without raising your bet. A third card is dealt to you.

Raise
This is when you place a bet on the value of the third card falling between the values of the first two cards dealt. A bet of double your original bet is placed on the table. If you win, your payout is doubled.

Spread
This is the number of cards between the cards you are dealt.

Example:
If you are dealt a Five and a Ten, the Spread is four. A marker is placed on Spread position four.
Note: There is no Spread on Consecutive cards.

Consecutives
Consecutives are cards with values that are consecutive, for example, three and four. If you are dealt Consecutives, the third card is not dealt and the game is a draw. Your bet is returned to you.
Note: Consecutive cards cannot form part of a Spread.

Pairs
Pairs are cards with identical values, for example, two Aces or two fives. If you are dealt a Pair, a third card is automatically dealt. If the third card is the same value as the cards of the Pair, you are paid out for Three of a Kind. If the third card does not have the same value as the cards of your Pair, the hand is a draw and your bet is returned to you.

Non-consecutives
Non-consecutives are any combination of cards that are not Consecutives or Pairs. The spread is marked on the table by a token or marker. You can then raise or call.
